Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 28, 2026
Rotten Potatoes (“we”) is an app and art project by Dumpster Fire Industries that ranks St. Louis social media creators using public data. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
If you use the app
You can browse without an account. If you create one, we collect:
- Sign-in details from Apple or Google: an account ID, and your email address and name if you choose to share them (Apple lets you hide your email).
- Profile details you add, such as a display name. A profile photo you pick stays on your device.
- Basic technical data needed to run the service, such as sign-in times.
We use this only to run your account. We don’t sell it, show you ads, or track you across other apps or websites. We never post anything on your behalf.
If you’re a ranked creator
We rank creators with public Instagram or TikTok accounts. For those accounts we collect only public information:
- Your public handle, display name and profile picture.
- Public counts: followers, and likes, comments, views, shares and saves on recent public posts.
- Public comments on recent posts, which are classified automatically as positive, neutral, negative or spam. We store only the totals. Comment text and commenters’ identities are discarded right after classification and never stored or shown.
We never access private accounts, messages, or anything behind a login.
Who we share data with
We use service providers to run Rotten Potatoes: Supabase (database and hosting), Apify (collecting public social media data), and Anthropic (classifying comments). They process data only to provide their services to us. We don’t sell personal information.
How long we keep it
Account data is kept until you delete your account. Public creator statistics are kept to calculate weekly rankings and history.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account any time in the app: My Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account data.
- Ask about your data, including access, correction or deletion, by emailing us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law.
Children
Rotten Potatoes isn’t meant for anyone under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
